Rhodo Valley -Suryanelli - Shantanpare

4 days 3 nights


Day 1

Transfer from Munnar to Silent valley, a 1 hr drive. Trek 4 hrs through the tea plantations, Eucalyptus and Pine groves. Delicious packed lunch served enroute. Camp fire dinner and sleep in comfortable tents.

Day 2

Trek to Meesapulimala the second highest peak (2635 m) in Southern India. This 5 to 6 hr trek passes through montane grasslands and shola forest. Trek then proceeds to Kolukkumala where you can walk through the highest grown tea in the world. Delicious packed lunch served enroute. Then a jeep ride to Suryanelli and a 30 min walk to the camp. Camp fire dinner and sleep in tents.

Day 3

Begin trekking soon after breakfast through Anayirangal dam and the tribal village. This 5 to 6 hr trek has paths paved with plantations like cardamom, pepper, coffee and plants like banana, lemon, cashew etc. Delicious packed lunch served enroute. Camp fire dinner and sleep in tents at camping site.

Day 4

After breakfast, board vehicle from camp site and proceed to the onward destination. Thekkady is only 60 km from here.

Trek 2

4 days 3 nights

4Pazhathottam ­ Top Station ­ Bottom Station

Day 1

Pick up from Munnar and transfer one hour by jeep to the trek starting point. Then begin a 4 to 5 hr trek through tea plantations and a small village. Delicious packed lunch served enroute. Reach camp site at Pazhathottam, a vegetable cultivating area. Camp fire dinner at 2000 m and sleep in tents.

Day 2

After breakfast, trek to Top Station through an old but now developed tribal settlement, Vattavada. The 4 to 5 hr trek will then go into Pampadumshola National Park, where you may be lucky to spot giant squirrels, wild boar and the Indian Gaur. Delicious packed lunch served enroute. Camp fire dinner at Top Station (1900 m) and sleep in tents.

Day 3

After breakfast, a 4 to 5 hr trek to the rope way stations - Central Station and Bottom Station. The trek passes water streams and falls, and a variety of plantations like coffee, mango, papaya, lemon, silk cotton etc. Camp fire dinner at 400 m and sleep in tents.

Day 4

After breakfast, board vehicle from camp site and proceed to the onward destination, Madurai or Thekkady.
