Silent Valley-Kolukkumala-Meesapulimala-Anayirangal

Day 1

One hour drive from Munnar to Silent valley, the trek starting point. Then a 4 hr trek through beautiful tea plantations, Eucalyptus and Pine groves. Delicious packed lunch served enroute. Camp fire dinner at valley camp and sleep in comfortable tents

Day 2

Trek to Meesapulimala, (2635 m) the second highest peak in South India. Trek passes through montane grasslands and shola forest. The 5 to 6 hr trek then proceeds to Kolukkumala, where you see the highest grown tea in the world. Delicious packed lunch served enroute. A 1 hr 15 min jeep ride to Suryanelli and a 30 min walk to the camp. Camp fire dinner and sleep in tents

Day 3

After breakfast, trek through Anayirangal dam and a hill tribal village. A 5 hr walk through plantations like cardamom, pepper, coffee and a variety of fruit and vegetable farms. Delicious packed lunch served enroute. Camp fire dinner at valley camp and sleep in tents

Day 4

Trek through plantations, hike for 1 hr to reach the road, walk 45 min into the cardamom plantations and farms of tapioca, jackfruit, mangoes, coffee, banana, lemon, cashew and paddy. Interaction with villagers and farmers. Delicious packed lunch served enroute. Camp fire dinner at Chemmannur village and sleep in tents


Day 5

After breakfast, board vehicle from camp site and proceed to the onward destination. Thekkady is only 60 km from here.

Trek 2

5 days 4 nights

Rhodo Valley Pazhathottam - Top Station

Day 1

Pick up from Munnar and transfer by jeep (1 hr) to the trek starting point at Silent Valley. 4 to 5 hr trek through tea plantations and valleys of Eucalyptus and Pine groves. Delicious packed lunch served enroute. Camp fire dinner at Rhodo Valley (2300 m) and sleep in comfortable tents.

Day 2

Trek for 4 hrs through shola grassland forests, an endangered ecosystem of the Western ghats. Chances of spotting wildlife like wild boar, gaur, sambar, Ibex etc are good. Delicious packed lunch served enroute. Camp fire dinner and sleep in tents at Pazhathottam (2000 m), a village with vegetable farms.

Day 3

After breakfast, explore the homesteads and vegetable farms of Pazhathottam. 4 to 5 hr trek through cultivated farms and interact with farmers and villagers. Camp fire dinner and sleep in tents back at Pazhathottam (2000 m).

Day 4

After breakfast, trek to Top Station through an old but now developed tribal settlement, Vattavada. The 4 to 5 hr trek will then go into Pampadumshola National Park, where you may be lucky to spot giant squirrels, wild boar and the Indian Gaur. Delicious packed lunch served enroute. Camp fire dinner at Top Station (1900 m) and sleep in tents.

Day 5

After breakfast, board vehicle from camp site and proceed to the onward destination.
