Pontiac Journeys organises Close Encounters With The Wilderness, a 6-day study tour of the wilderness around the hills of Munnar. It’s like a nature awareness camp with discussions on wildlife conservation and environment issues, field studies, familiarising. with the flora and fauna, talks/presentations on birds, butterflies and tropical rainforests, trekking through the western ghats, cultural activities and even shopping for spices, condiments and seasonal farm produce.

Day – 1

Arrive Munnar after 4 hours of winding drive through the scenic mountain roads. Dinner and over night at the dormitory.

Day – 2

Introductory session – camp/self introduction – slide talk on ENP & surrounding area – methods and necessity of Nature, Forest and Wild life conservation - discussions on general environmental issues. Transfer to Tent camps. Dinner and overnight at camp.

Day – 3

Meditation – experience the “nature’s light & sound show” – Breakfast – Field study - ground experience – familiarization of flora & fauna of the region – discussion on field study and presentation – talk on birds & butterflies of Western Ghats. Overnight at camp.

Day – 4

Adventure activities – rock climbing – rappelling – river crossing & trekking through the western ghats – over night at camp.

Day – 5

Tribal visit – local interaction - shopping – cultural activities dinner and over night at forest dormitory

Day –6

After breakfast depart to Cochin. [N.B. Order & sequence of the events / activities my be altered to suite the situation. This unique program is designed to expose the intrinsic verity of nature and would surely supplement any student’s formal education.
