The journey
Few crossovers change landscape this dramatically. Start in the lush, waterfall-laced valleys of Kullu, cross a 14,100 ft pass, and descend into the barren, cinematic desert of Lahaul — with an optional drive to Chandratal lake.

Manali → Jobra → Chika
Short drive to Jobra and a 2 km walk through maple forest to riverside camp at Chika.

Chika → Balu ka Ghera
8 km along the Rani nallah through flowered meadows to a camp under towering cliffs.

Balu ka Ghera → Hampta Pass → Shea Goru
The big day: climb to the 14,100 ft pass, see Lahaul unfold, descend steeply to Shea Goru.

Shea Goru → Chatru → Chandratal
Walk to Chatru, then drive to the crescent-shaped Chandratal lake (weather permitting).

Chatru → Manali
Drive back over Rohtang/Atal tunnel to Manali by afternoon.
